Aaron walked me home in the sweet moonlight, holding my hand the entire way. A kiss on my cheek signaled his goodnight as I was promised a call the next day. I was back in la la land-the place I often visited when I would look at him. He turned to go, and I shut the door gently behind him. I floated up the stairs into an enchanted sleep. As my head hit the pillow, the familiar beep of my cellphone signaled a text message, just waiting to be read.

As I flipped my phone open, the yellow light illuminated my face as I read
"You don't have to tell anyone we kissed."


I thought I read the message wrong so I read it again; it read the same. You.don't.have.to.tell.anyone.we.kissed. W H A T ? I was sure in my sleep delirium that I was dreaming, so I put down my phone and nodded off.


In the car the next morning with two of my roommates, one of them bluntly asked
"Did you kiss Aaron last night or what??"
With the text message-message (HA) scrolling in my head, I felt it in my best interest to not tell anyone we kissed. I answered with a surprised no! no! we totally didn't. I mulled over somewhat disappointed sighs and within five seconds blurted out the truth (we TOTALLY kissed!!!) as well as my concern over the text message. As girls do, we dissected every detail: what could it mean? was it a mistake? maybe he didn't mean it THAT way? what did his face look like? was the wind right? I'm nice, right? I'm kissable, right? Does HE not want me to tell anyone we kissed? Was this a kiss and run? Do I smell?

I wasn't sure what this mysterious message meant to number one: me, number two: him and number three and most important: our future together. I waited on pins and needles for my promised phone call. The phone rang later that afternoon.
